Anytime You Want to Unplug Remember That's Your Sign to Turn Up the Heat

Have you ever found yourself ready to take action in your floral business—only to unplug and talk yourself out of it at the last minute? Maybe you were about to reach out to a hotel, but then thought, “It’s the end of the month, I’ll try next month.” Or maybe you planned to launch a new service, but told yourself, “I’ll do it when things slow down.”
This cycle of unplugging before the work is done is one of the biggest ways florists sabotage their own success. It’s like baking a beautiful apple pie, investing hours into perfecting it—only to unplug the oven halfway through because you’re afraid it won’t turn out right.
In this blog, we’re diving into why you must stop pulling the plug too soon and start turning up the heat instead. If you love podcasts, be sure to check out the full episode.
The Self-Sabotage of “I’ll Try Again Later”
We all do it. We convince ourselves that now isn’t the right time. We push things off for a later date when we think it will be easier, or when we feel more prepared. But guess what?
- Later never comes.
- There is no “perfect time.”
- The best moment to take action is always NOW.
Every time you delay action, you’re unplugging the oven on something that could have led to a breakthrough. And here’s the kicker: it’s usually right before something amazing happens that we feel the strongest urge to quit.
This is where you need to turn up the heat instead of stepping back.
How to Push Through When You Want to Unplug
Recognize the Pattern: Are you constantly delaying action? Do you wait until the “perfect” moment? The first step is noticing when you’re about to unplug the oven on yourself.
Ask: How Can I Show Up Even More? Instead of stepping back, challenge yourself: How can I double down? How can I be even more committed right now?
Take One Bold Step: If you were about to delay action, do the opposite. Reach out to that hotel. Launch that offer. Send that proposal. The only way to build momentum is to take action.
Think of Your Future Self: You’re not doing this for the version of you today—you’re doing it for the version of you six months from now. Imagine that version of yourself thanking you for being brave enough to take the leap today.
The Next Time You Want to Unplug… TURN UP THE HEAT
When you feel the urge to step back, lean in even harder.
- Didn’t hit your sales goal by week three? Turn up the heat and go harder in week four.
- Feeling unsure about pitching hotels? Turn up the heat and make the call.
- Not sure if now is the right time? Turn up the heat and take the first step anyway.
Success is built by those who keep the oven on—who trust the process, let the work bake, and take bold action. You can also have a little fun with increasing your cash flow! Read about it here!
So, the next time you feel like quitting, I want you to remember this:
It’s not time to unplug. It’s time to turn up the heat.
