Why Reflecting and Setting Intentions is So Important

Have you ever felt like you're just moving from month to month, pushing forward without stopping to evaluate what’s working and what’s not? Many florists operate like this—constantly selling, constantly creating, constantly trying to keep up. But if you want to build a profitable and sustainable business, you need to set clear intentions for your growth.

In this blog, we’re diving into the power of reflection and intention setting—why it’s crucial, how to do it, and what it means for your long-term success. Listen to the full podcast episode here.

Why Reflection is Key to Business Growth

One of the biggest game-changers in my floral business was making time every month to review my progress. Instead of just jumping into the next sales push, I started asking myself:

  • What worked well last month? (What offers resonated? What clients were ideal?)
  • What didn’t work? (Were there missed opportunities? Did I feel drained?)
  • What financial goals did I hit, and what do I need to adjust?
  • How did I feel? (Was I inspired, exhausted, overwhelmed?)

By taking inventory of my business regularly, I started noticing patterns—where I was wasting time and energy and where I needed to lean in and grow. Once I let go of those patterns, I was able to create a business that worked for me. If you’re ready to dive in deeper, be sure to check out the blog, How I travel so freely in my business.

One of the biggest shifts? Learning how to set intentional goals instead of just reacting to whatever came my way.

How to Set Intentions for a More Aligned & Profitable Business

Once you reflect on the past month, it’s time to set the tone for the month ahead.

  • Decide on a Milestone: What’s one big goal you want to achieve? (Ex: landing your first hotel client, hitting a record sales month, or streamlining your workflow.)
  • Break it Down: What are the 3-5 action steps that will bring that goal to life?
  • Check Your Alignment: Are you working towards what you want, or are you following an old pattern of what you think you should do?
  • Use the ‘7 Whys’ Exercise: Keep asking yourself “why?” until you get to the root cause of your habits and decision-making.

Setting intentions isn’t just about what you want to achieve—it’s about becoming the florist and business owner who attracts the success you desire.

Let Next Month Be the Month You Take Control

Next month is your opportunity to shift how you run your business. Will you keep operating on autopilot, or will you decide to create intentional success?

What is one thing you’re committed to changing or improving this month?
What actions will you take to get there?

Take the time to reflect, set intentions, and take aligned action. Because success isn’t just about selling more flowers—it’s about building a business that supports the life you want to live.
